Jorge Masvidal’s return to the UFC is becoming a real scenario again. The MMA veteran confirmed that he is negotiating with the organization and expects to bring them to the signing of the contract, despite the difficult process of discussing the terms.

The head of the UFC, Dana White, stated bluntly after the UFC 327 tournament in Miami: the parties are in contact, but an agreement has not yet been reached. According to him, there are no specific plans for fights for Masvidal yet — it all depends on the outcome of the negotiations.

Gamebred itself does not hide the fact that the process is not easy. He noted that the UFC traditionally takes a strict approach to the terms of contracts, so it is not possible to reach an agreement quickly. However, the dialogue has been going on for some time, and the fighter is confident that a compromise will be found.

It is significant that for the sake of a possible comeback, Masvidal refused alternative offers. In particular, he did not participate in the media duel between Ronda Rousey and Gene Carano, which was planned for Netflix. This underlines his priority — to return specifically to the UFC, and not to participate in one-time shows.

At the same time, the fighter himself has already outlined the key conditions for his return:

• optimal preparation is at least 4-5 months of a training camp;
• willingness to compete in the welterweight division (up to 170 pounds);
• interest in fighting only with top opponents;
• the desire to have a high-profile fight that makes sense for your career.

Leon Edwards singled out Masvidal as one of the possible opponents. According to him, for the sake of such a fight, he is ready to quickly get himself in the right shape and enter the octagon without unnecessary delays.

Masvidal’s potential return is important news for the UFC welterweight division. His name is still strong in the media, which means that any fight involving him automatically attracts attention. If the negotiations are successful, the league may receive not just a veteran’s comeback, but a full-fledged event with serious interest from fans and the media.
